History

At the 1994 meetings of the American Arachnological Society, Mark Stowe (University of Florida, USA) led a workshop on the potential usefulness of the Internet for arachnologists. This led, through the efforts of Herman Vanuytven (Belgium) to the May 1995 creation of the Arachnology Internet Mailing List.

On June 1995 Herman started with the Arachnology Home Page to make an index of all the arachnological sites on the Internet.

On February 1997, Nils Koesters (Germany) took over the Arachnology Mailing List because running the list and the WWW page was to much work for one person. In February 1998, Richard Adams (UK) took over the Arachnology Mailing List and in 2000, Nils took over the list once again. In februari 2001, the list moved ones more. Now it is administered by Shawn McGovern. You can find more info about the list at the home page of The Arachnology mailing list

From October 2002 until September 2004 the pages were located at the home page of ISA (International Society of Arachnology). Then they moved to the place where they are now (www.arachnology.be).
